Using the old windows installer, getting rid of mingw means one less website to visit and one less program to install. With the new installer, yes, you are right, mingw is no longer a problem. However, configure.py will (?) replace configure.m4 because more complicated configuration such as registry manipulation can be done more easily in Python than in shell. Cheers, Bo
