Thanks for the explanation. I changed the logic of the code (no more
go to the left and then to the right) and added a lengthy comment.
Please test. It works for me.

I'm currently testing this new patch. One issue I found is that you
cannot reach the position between two sets of brackets with the mouse.
For example, try:
\begin_inset Formula \[\left(a\right)\left(b\right)\]
