I guess no. I think lyx (configure.py) should detect this and disable instant preview when the preview package is not available. (and tells user why instant preview is disabled.)
MiKTeX automatically asks you to download packages, unless you disabled this option.
I know, but if it is installed by the lyx installer, lyx would better asks if the user would like to unintall it as well.
The problem is that many users always click yes when uninstalling. What about adding a notice?
Unless something fancier is in mind for this batch file, this can be handled at least in configure.py, if not in lyx itself.
What do you mean? The purpose of the batch file is to set the LANG environment variable to whatever has been selected during installation.
