Right. I see that now, but it was the act of (trying to) explain that revealed 
to me that I actually didn't understand things after all. I now understand 
that Windows file formats tend to output directly the UCS-2/UTF-16 that is 
used internally. It never occurred to me before that they would do such a 
thing.
