Hi

Some background from lyx-docs.

I've been thinking about if it'd be better to have the lyx-wiki at
www.lyx.org (sadly, I don't have access to any suitable server where it
could stay for a longer time)

Do you have an opinion about wether it's good to keep the lyx-wiki on
Baruch's site, or if it could go to www.lyx.org?
(A php-based wiki, e.g. http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/ ought to easy)

Here are som pros, cons and unknowns as to keeping it where it is:
+ Server already exists, works and Baruch doesn't mind it.
+ Good for testing the concept, i.e. is a lyx wiki worth having?

? Backup and persistence, will it keep working?

  - Missing functionality:
    * Can't delete pages, i.e. don't misspell new page names
    * Not possible to upload files (e.g. .lyx- and .layout-files)
    * Can't use "subpages" (makes for a more complicated structure)
  - No administrative control, e.g.
    * Can't have restricted access for certain operations (delete...)
  - More difficult to export information to another format (.lyx)

I'd say that the worst two drawbacks are not being able to delete pages
and not being able to use "subpages". Both of these could be fixed on
Baruch's site if he'd be willing to update his server version and enable
page deletion.

As to uploading .lyx- and .layout-files, that would be nice, but since
they are text-files you could in principle copy and paste. Then it'd be
more interesting to be able to upload small screenshots, or a small
.tar-ball.

Anyway, this is not something that's in a rush, but I thought I'd check
the situation before, in case I decide to mail Baruch and ask if he could
upgrade his wiki server etc.

/Christian
