Good afternoon, Giorgio. I understand (but may be wrong) that Mac users have been unable to compile LyX 1.3 so I suspect that you are using LyX 1.2.X. Nonetheless, could you tell us what version of LyX you have installed and which version of LyX created your version of the UserGuide? Here I am using LyX 1.3.1 (the latest stable version) and can load and view the DVI of the current version of it_UserGuide.lyx without problems. The first two lines of the file are: #LyX 1.3 created this file. For more info see http://www.lyx.org/ \lyxformat 221 If you are using a version of LyX prior to 1.3, then there may well be problems loading the file. Hope this gets you started. -- Angus
