I'm running Ubuntu6.10, and a newbie both to Linux and Lyx.

I'm not sure if I should be asking this here, or in another place, I've already asked on the Ubuntu beginners forum, and the response was: well the two programs don't work together.

I had LyX nicely installed, but I found moving back and forth from the user guide to the pages I'm working on incredibly clumsy, so I'd like to print out the user guide. It seems I cannot do this simply because hyperref has to be installed.

So I did that in Synaptic, and it said LyX would be removed, which it did, and after a lot of more work I finally have my LyX properly reloaded. However, this does not solve my problem of printing out the user guide.

How do I install hyperref into LyX without losing LyX?
I'm caught in this catch 22 - I'd like to become expert at this, and would prefer to have the manual printed so that I can read it in bed - can't print the manual because I don't know enough.

Is someone from the Lyx project able to liaise with the Ubuntu people so that the incompatabilities are removed and hyperref becomes part of the LyX package installed in Ubuntu.
