always look into another translations, very often you can find there the way howto handle your problems. generally '&' stands for underlined characters (shortcut) in dialog boxes, '|' stands for underlined characters in menus and $% are usually used as handlers for formating or variables to be inserted into the strings. So all these chars should be somehow used in your translations, however you'll have to invent your own working shortcuts for dialog and menu entries and resolve possible conflicts of the same shortcut chars in one menu... it comes up in my mind - maybe you can shortly write your question and answers as a small FAQ and append it to README file in the po directory, since the informations are obsolete there. it could help to the next new translators.... have a nice day pavel
