Is this description correct?: PATH prefixThis field contains a list of paths to external programs. When LyX needs to use an external program, it looks in this list where to find it on the system. The path list is automatically set up on Windows systems while LyX is configured, so that you normally don't have to modify it. On Unix/Linux and Mac systems the PATH-prefix might be empty because it is not needed on theses systems.
I'm asking because I don't know how it is on Linux and Mac. thanks Uwe
