But I have a problem to compile this file since all the icons are .png files and in my LyX distribution the same icons are .xpm.
Then you are working with the SVN trunk. For the documentation we decided to work with the current stable branch, currently the 1.5.x SVN branch. Before a new release, the docs will also be moved to trunk. The 1.5.x branch uses the icons in in .xpm format, the trunk (that becomes LyX 1.6.0 one day) uses the icons in .png format.
You can also send me your file and I can modify it for you that it fits. many thanks for translation in advance and regards Uwe
