Hi Alex,

I looked at the page, first a minor issue. The following text regarding the Windows version seems to be wrong (this is what's shown on the page):

        The standard installer can be downloaded here:
        {Web.DownloadDraft$$:windowsinstallername}

Can the change applied to the main download page?

I am generally in favour, but would like to see some things done first.

Document how you intend it to work, i.e. put some instructions on
this page

        http://www.lyx.org/SiteDocumentation

To be specific, there should be some simple instructions on what to do
and also:
* Why it's done in this way (which may appear a bit convoluted).
* List which variables that are to be used for what.
* Example: Give an example of how it's used.

Then refer to these instructions from within the Download-pages by using a comment
        (:comment See Web.SiteDocumentation#release for instructions :)

I'm a bit worried of things breaking... could we have some test cases on the documentation page? This could simply be the variables and their results, e.g. like this:

        (:markup:)
        {Web.Download$:windowsinstallername}
        (:markupend:)

This will show both the markup and it's result, hopefully making it relatively easy to quickly verify that all the variables have been updated properly.

Finally I wonder why we don't keep the definitions of the variables at the top of the page? When a new release is done, it'll be easier for the person doing the release if he can just fix things at the top of the page.

best regards,
Christian
