Attached please find an edited version of the Tutorial. Most of the changes are
simply my opinions, which you may or may not find useful. There are some issues
you will probably want to address, however.

Dear DWL (do you have a name?),

thanks for your revision. I will have at it the next days.

These are items that I think require a change:

Section 2.1.1, fourth bullet, mentions a View > View menu item. This doesn't
exist the version 2.1.0beta2.

The LyX docs are not yet updated for LyX 2.1 because this is a future LyX version. I now started the update.

There are numerous comma mistakes in the document -- places where commas do not
belong. Here are a few instances in section 2.2.1:

I am not a native speaker but different native speakers discussed this topic already several times. It turns out that there are no strict comma rules like e.g. in German so it is hard to please everybody. However, we have to keep in mind that your English manuals will be read by many or LyX's users because we only have translations for French, German, Spanish and Japanese. Therefore it is more important to say in simple words what we want to say. If possible, we of course try to keep a clean English.

Type the word Introduction on the first line of your new LyX file, and
select Section in the Environment box.

Hit Return again, and select Section from the Environment box again.

Hit Return to get back to the Standard environment, and type the following
five lines:

These lines were once ironically written by an US English native speaker ;-).

In numerous snippets where one is asked to type something in LyX as part of an exercise, the word
"LyX" appears as the LyX "trademark logo" in the PDF output. Here is an example
from section 2.1.1:

     • Type a sentence like: This is my first LyX document!

This looks fine in the GUI, but in the generated PDF, the LyX is in the logo style, which
it would never appear as in the GUI. So these instances of the word "LyX"
should be suppressed from appearing as the logo in PDF.

But that is what we want to say - LyX is WYSIWYM not WYSIWYG!

I notice that the "strikethrough" lines of the "Track changes" mode do not strike
through section numbers in headers and re-sequence the header numbers. Maybe there's a good reason for
this, but it would seem more intuitive to me if entire headers, including the numbers, were stricken.
Same thing applies to bullet lists. That may be something to pass on to R&D.

Can you please report this issues as enhancement request to our bugtracker?:

Uwe
