hi guys, i've used lyx quite a bit on ubuntu and windows (vista). i recently wiped my laptop and reinstalled vista and lyx using the latest bundle installer.
i got the "document class missing" and "can't reconfigure lyx" and "side by side" issues mentioned on several blogs. the troubleshooting page on the lyx wiki is pretty weak. i finally figured out it was all due to missing the visual c++ package which can be downloaded from the microsoft website. they mention it on this site http://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=12813 i don't know whereabouts in the chain of processes it solved the issue, but maybe should be mentioned somewhere on wiki page as a possible solution? cheers, Seamus
