LaTeX solution: define a command
\newcommand{\clearemptydoublepage}{\newpage{\pagestyle{empty}\cleardoublepage}}
in the LaTeX preamble, then insert a
\clearemptydoublepage
before each \chapter (or redefine the \chapter command - needed below)
