That's just the same problem I have since several days.
For making LaTeX files I use LyX on Linux, I don't know whether this adds
difficulties to it.
I have tried several programmes, the best I found was TeX2RTF:

Though it wasn't able to convert my special Latex file, it did a very good
job on it's own sample and some .tex file from the teTeX distribution.
There is another way I tried this morning that looks quite promising:
With latex2html (0.98.1) I convert LaTeX to HTML, and with the DOS programme
HTM2RTF.COM
from the site
http://www.cena.dgac.fr/~sagnier/htm2rtf.htm
to rtf, which needs still some handwork for math formula and figures, but
was the best for my Latex file.
Because HTM2RTF.COM is a MSDOS executable I've just sent a mail to it's
author, asking whether the source is available.
