I think that this has the side effect of getting numbers in pages where,
for
example, chapters begin, or in the title page. The _LaTeX Companion_
says
that, to overcome this in a LaTeX document,
> .. you must follow each such [sectioning] command with a
\thispagestyle{empty}
> command or redifine the plain style to empty, i.e.,
\let\ps@plain=\ps@empty.
So, in LyX, after you do what Juergen Vigna suggested, you should put
\thispagestyle{empty} after a major section begins. You'll get a
document
without any page numbering, even on the sectioning pages. At least, this
is
what I did, and it worked.
