you can do that using psnup which is part of the psutils package. I have
produced several posters so far by first making a version scaled down to
A4, then blowing it up to A0 with
psnup -s4 poster_A4.ps > poster_A0.ps
As I had to use many minipages inside a large table, and LyX does not
really reproduce this WYSIWYM, I did it in LaTeX with emacs.
You can get the psutils package on any CTAN site.
