Some of lyx impresses me a lot -- especially the ease of making tables. On
the other hand, I've tried importing some latex documents that work fine
under teTeX and mikTeX, but the import process either generates latex
errors or gives me a document that looks different in important ways.
I recognize that any translation script is going to be imperfect, but are
there any guidelines for how to minimize this sort of problem with
workarounds?
This seems to me to be really quite important -- besides the fact that
there are a lot of plain old latex files around, those of us who use both
linux and windows machines really need platform independence in texing.
