The files in the tex/ subdirectory should be installed in your TeX tree
(e.g. for tetex 0.9 under RedHat Linux, /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex). It is
of course better to install under a local tree if you have one.
Personally, I create a symlink to the LyX tex/ subdirectory. And if you
are using Web2C TeX, remember to run texhash after installing new files in
your TeX tree.
