I've installed both the Debian and RedHat packages of 0.12 and they both
crash when lyx tries to display the splash screen. On initial startup, it
goes through config ok then the main lyx screen comes up (still ok) but
when it tries to bring up the box with the logo the whole program just quits.

What are the requirements to run it. I have 8M ram and about 15M free
left on my hard drive (but I figure the HD space isn't particularly
important). Is it possible to tell lyx not to show the splash screen -
maybe then it would continue to run.

The weird thing is that I've had Lyx 0.12 running on my machine before.
