The lines were there, uncommented, in /usr/lib/texmf/dvips/config/config.ps
and in /etc/texmf/dvips/config.ps

Also, I had this file, ~/.lyx/lyxrc.defaults:

# This file has been automatically generated by LyX' lib/configure
# script. It contains default settings that have been determined by
# examining your system. PLEASE DO NOT MODIFY ANYTHING HERE! If you
# want to customize LyX, make a copy of the file LYXDIR/lyxrc as
# ~/.lyx/lyxrc and edit this file instead. Any setting in lyxrc will
# override the values given here.
\latex_command "latex"
\ps_command "gs"
\view_ps_command "gv -swap"
\view_pspic_command "gv"
\ascii_roff_command "groff -t -Tlatin1 $$FName"
\chktex_command "none"
\fax_command "none"
\font_encoding "T1"

and also added a lyxrc file to that path. ~/.lyx/lyxrc contains this line:

\default_papersize "a4"

By the way, my system is Debian 2.0

I think I'll have a deeper look into it.

Regards,

Horacio.
