I have the same problem. Here is the solution:

You must use the rotating package (not rotate).
There exist a float table enviroment called: sidewaytable
So, you have to put in tex mode
\begin{sidewaytable}

"here is now the normal table(not as a float"

\end{sidewaytable}

before or after the table you have to place the caption, by choosing the
caption layout (instet of the standard layout).
Don't bother when lyx tells you "sensless". It works!
Maybe my explanation is not very clear, therefore I have attached a
lyx-document called sideway, where you can look at.
