Hello.
I became intersted in LyX because my doctoral advisor uses LaTeX.
I thought that LyX was just a "front end" for LaTeX, but upon using
it I found it's not completely compatible. After "digging" in the
documentation I discovered that "reading LaTeX files" was something
to be added. But that's not the only problem. My LaTeX processor
can't read the LyX files either! For starters it chokes on the #
charecter which LyX apparently uses for comments. (LaTeX uses %
to start comments.) Also LyX seems to use its own control sequences.
(Such as \textclass, \lyxformat ect.)
So my questions are :
1) How do I configure LaTeX to be able to handle a LyX file?
2) Where can I find the LaTeX2LyX utility?
I can generate PostScript files from within LyX, so technically I
could use it as, is to create papers, but that doesn't help my goal
of being able to work with my advisors documents.
