I think we need a bit more information. Are xforms and xpm installed
on your system? If the are, configuring LyX will be as simple as
./configure --prefix=/this/is/where/I/want/to/install/LyX/and/have/write/access/to
make
make install
Of course, you can choose a shorter path :)
