algorithm.sty has to be included manually

Hi!
To be able to use algorithm floats I have to include 
algorithm.sty manually via \usepackage in the LaTeX preamble. 
Is this a bug within LyX 1.0.1 in general or just a problem
of the corresponding Debian GNU Linux package?
