two setup questions

hi,
i have two setup questions regarding lyx:

1) when i do:
   Isert->Figure-> then Browse
   i get a window "EPS figure with
   Pattern *ps

   how do i change it to be *epsi by default ?

2) is there a way to avoid Lyx logo when invoking Lyx ?
