I was going to start by saying 'I am no programmer...but' - but the fact
that I am no programmer might be obvious when I suggest that the
word-count code could just essentially lifted, modified and added as a
new command with *relative* ;-) ease, couldn't it. - (a spell check that
ignores all words?)
It would be a VERY helpful feature to have - following on from lyx for
moms: after some convincing of the perils and futility of Wo...(oh I
can't bring myself to say it...but if I describe it as 'an wordprocessor
which is overstuffed, over used, and over here!' i am sure you know
which I mean) my wife is now using Lyx for her research, and loves it -
but finds the lack of a simple word count a real omission, as do I
(although at this stage it is nice not to be reminded you have not
written as much as you though you had!).

Yes indeed. Thank you LyX team for a great bit of software!
