Section Numbering

Hi, I recently got LyX 1.0.2 installed on our SGI UNIX network.  While
working through the tutorial, I can not get LyX to number subsections, it
simply changes the fonts.

When I run LaTex it tells me
This is TeX, Version 3.14159 (C version 6.1), and I'm on IRIX 6.2

I appreciate any/all help!
