Yes, but this means building a hierarchy of directories if things get
too complicated. Thinking about it, the best solution is probably to
have a backup directory in every directory.
However, it seems that this is a lot of work (and we can't afford bugs
in backup files) with a very small return. Don't count on it if nobody
proposes a clean implementation.
