Sorry, you are right. But lines are my hobbyhorse ;-) or my
nightmare.

I installed lyx for my wife, who is a teacher. She writes papers,
where the students have to insert the right word. Like that: 

Insert the right form of "to love"

I _____ lyx.
You _____ lyx.
He,She,It _____ lyx.

I solve the problem with \rule{5cm}{.1pt} in TeX-Font. But this is
annoying to do and to read. When you read the text in lyx, these
\rules make the text unreadable. 

Is there an other solution?

It would be nice to have a line- and dots-editor on board or to
have the ability to have one or more command-buttons which I can
customize so that a latex-command can be inserted with one click.

And it would be even nicer, when you could hide latex-commands, so
that in the lyx-window only appears a small button or so,
indicating that there is a hidden latex-command.
