character $, was Large varepsilon

Hi,

I would obtain the follow line in math-mode, only in math mode, in the
.tex file:

\begin{equation}
\text{\Large{$ \varepsilon $}} ...
\end{equation}

This lines print a Large varepsilon only with the ams-math package.
LyX instead can't let me to stamp the '$' alone, but prefix the \, like: 
\begin{equation}
\text{\Large{\$ \varepsilon \$}} ...
\end{equation}

so the output is not a Large epsilon.
