my problem was solved by downloading and installing, the redhat packages of
xforms made for sparc (found on http://www.rpmfind.net)
these packages are located in the powertools directory
my configure works good, and now lyx is being compiled (1 or 2 hours of
compilation)
On my opinion, redhat is a bit too specific, perhaps a debian distribution
would have not done that.
