I think this answer is kind of stale, bu t. . . .

There's file ex_picinpar.lyx running around which shows how to do this; 
if it's not in the documentation, it should be in the archives of the 
developer's list.

It is my understanding that floatflt is now deprecated in all cases.

The worse news is that it appears that a truly useful wrap feature 
would require a major rewrite of large portions of latex.  I think I 
know what needs to be done, but it would mean a *lot* of time, and an 
extension of how latex thinks about available horizontal space.

If you play around with wrapping, you'll see *really* weird things 
happening with placement, text overwriting fig floats, and even floats 
not being printed but getting assigned figure numbers (this seems to 
occur when there isn't enough space left on the page at the point the 
float would land, or some such.

On the other hand, this is the only area I can think of off the cuff 
where word processors have latex beat hands down . . .
