I use Meta-M M Meta-M D or equivalently just Meta-M D (where
Meta=Alt key). Without Meta-M D, Ctrl-Return does nothing.

Meta-M N inserts numbering to all rows in the "red box".
Meta-M Shift-N removes the numbering from a SINGLE row.
