Sorry, I misunderstood you, I guess you didn't use BibTeX...
BibTeX allows to describe independently the citation database
and the citation style; you loose this facility if you type in
the citations directly in LyX.

I'm afraid that manual action is the only remaining possibility, unless
you paste your lyx citations in a bibTeX database... but you'll have
to learn a little bit of BiBTeX syntax (mostly, how to type in author names,
and how to keep acronyms in paper titles).
