I have spent some time to write a new section about an easy (hopefully 8))
installation of LyX on Win32. BTW there is a distribution file available (13
MB) which includes LyX as well as all Cygwin files as well as Perl 5.6 (w/o
documentation), ispell 3.2 (german and english hash files) and Ghostscript
4.03 (cygwin version only for inline viewing of images).
The description will show a potential user step by step what (and how) to
install to let LyX splash up on Win32. The description takes into account
all necessary steps including installation of an X-server, MikTeX etc.!
If interested have a look at
http://www.fh-hannover.de/mbau/tim/hentschel/lyx/index.htm
I hope this will help many interested users in installing LyX on Win32 and
maybe switch from M$-Word to this outstanding typesetting system!

Hello Claus,
I certainly think this is much easier! It took some hard work on your part
to do this. On the bright side, your work will save hundreds of people as
much as six hours of hunting and studying instructions per installation.
MS-Word has trouble with Master Documents. This is one reason why
people use FrameMaker for 1,000 page manuals. There is a great deal of
discontent with Adobe for failure to make long requested improvements.
And they are looking for an alternative which does not cost $795 or so.
K-Word is making an effort but I hope LyX has the capability to produce
very large documents. Availability will certainly attract some technical
writers having developmental skills. Perhaps your efforst will snowball!
Cordially yours,
Stephen
