There has been a fix in 1.1.6cvs about slowness of backspace, but I
did not apply it to 1.1.5fix1 because I did not want to create
problems in this release.
Could you try the patch in
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg12598.html
and see whether it helps? I hope it applies cleanly to 1.1.5fix1.
