It's not an X server; it's a graphical remote terminal. It _is_ a very good
one, and as you observe, free. If someone you know is running X and has a
fast network connection to you, see if you can install VNC's server and LyX
on their box, and then you'll be able to use LyX from your Palm Pilot if you
want :-).
I *really* hope native win32 support will come soon. I wish I had any
knowledge of the API.
