Dear all,

Sorry for asking yet another question (give me a few months to become more
expert, and I'll start contributing as well)...

I'm trying to create tables like the following:-

+------+------+------+------+------+--------+
| | d0s0 | d0s1 | d0s3 | d0s4 | d0s7 |
+------+------+------+------+------+--------+
| | 1GB | 1GB | 1GB | 1GB | 5MB |
+------+------+------+------+------+--------+
| c2t0 | | | | d6 | metadb |
+------+ | | | 2GB +--------+
| c2t1 | d2 | d5 | d8 | | metadb |
+------+ | | +------+--------+
| c2t2 | 4GB | 4GB | 4GB | d7 | metadb |
+------+ | | | 2GB +--------+
| c2t3 | | | | | metadb |
+------+------+------+------+------+--------+

This is a cut down version of one of the least complicated instances of
what I'm trying to achieve. Basically, I need to be able to split and
combine cells vertically as above. I currently get around this by
removing all the horizontal lines, then using rows of underscores and
underlined text where it is necessary to split the cells - which works,
but does not look brilliant.

I have tried using \cline{0-0} in the cell required, but this puts the
line in the vertical centre of the cell, and breaks the table line
afterwards. I'm afraid I can't get my head round this one yet - could
"someone who knows" please explain?

Thanks in anticipation,
Adrian.
