Dear lyx-users,
maybe the following might be interesting for some of you.
I use lyx version 1.1.5fix2 and a german keyboard and I always write the
following in the "Latex-Vorspann..." of Lyx (you can write it as well in
Texmode at the beginning of the document)...

\catcode`\ö = \active
\catcode`\Ö = \active
\catcode`\ü = \active
\catcode`\Ü = \active
\catcode`\ß = \active
\chardefÄ = 196
\chardefä = 228

\chardefö = 246
\chardefÜ = 220
\chardefü = 252
\chardefß = 255
--
... and than I can use the umlauts of my keyboard in the text. I do not
have to use "u etc. anymore.
I tried to put \textrm{ü} in math-mode and it worked perfectly.
