Could you show us the latex log? LyX is now much better at finding
errors in logs. So your file probably have real errors.

Yes, the change occured in 1.1.4fix2, I believe.

Use "french" or "french (gutemberg)". The "francais" option of babel
is deprecated. Concerning ispell, the best for now is to add a link
like
ln -s francais.aff french.aff
ln -s francais.hash french.hash
Later versions will know better how to handle ispell dictionaries.
