Thanks to both of you! I've been plagued by the same problem which had me 
using Applix to prepare anything  which needed to be converted to pdf. One 
thing I noticed though is that the KDE ps/pdf viewer renders fonts 
beautifully even when the pslatex option isn't chosen. Wonder why?
