Are there plans in upcoming versions to support having documents open in
multiple panes? 

Also, I tried having two LyX's running, but I didn't seem able to cut and paste
between them. I knew that cut and paste doesn't work between LyX and other
apps, but I thought it should work between LyX's. Guess this is not the case...
I really don't have a clue how that works, anyway.

IMHO, lack of support for this is the most serious disadvantage LyX has.
