Lars, you're absolutely right. gcc-2.96 are so much better in compiling
C++ stuff (although the one shipped with RH7 is pretty crappy, which I
believed was 2.96-54).

Whoa! Again, you're right on the dot! ;-)
I've installed 0.89 and everything is perfect!
