The default spacing os OK for multiline items. but bad for one line items (frequent in slides). I found in the french LaTeX FAQ a set of two macros to control the spacing, I made a wide use of it in slides (when I have few things to put on a slide I prefer wide spacing :-) This will be ERT, I haven't made a layout because I don't use LyX for slides (seminar was not very well supported, unless this has changed ? -- Jean-Pierre
