This inset as it is found in 1.1.6 can only handle ps/eps graphics, it
can also be used for pdf generation if you already have the png image.
That is if you generate a postscript file (or generate pdf by using
ps2pdf) you must have an eps file, if you generate pdf directly
(pdflatex) then you need the png image.
Thus if you have an image file image.eps and you want to create both PDF
and PS files, use imagemagick convert to convert it to image.png, place
both of the image files in the same directory and in the new inset
graphics point to the eps file, when you'll generate the PS/PDF latex
will take the file that it needs (EPS if its latex, PNG if its
pdflatex).
This inset as it is in 1.1.6 offers little benefit over the old one.
The inset as it is in CVS right now is much better, it will
automatically convert the image so that you can use any image format
that imagemagick knows and it will automatically convert the image to
the needed format.
If you need more help you can ask me directly or on the list, I'm
responsible for the development of the new inset graphics.
