Those of us who regularly use pdftk find it's a convenience rather than a complication. :-) Your suggestion is good for those preparing an e-book. But, if the book is to be printed and bound by a commercial printer then the cover should be a separate document because it includes the front, spine, and back. And, it tends to be printed in color while the book contents are black text on white background. Horses for courses, as it is written. Regards, Rich
