Well, the main question is what the compilation errors are. Is there a
sample file for this class? If
so, then I'd suggest trying to import it into LyX, and compile that.
Sometimes there are commands
that *have* to be defined that you may not expect.

PS LyX 2.0.2 is *VERY* old.
The class ws-ijcm can be downloaded from the World Scientific publishers
page (and there are links to it somewhere in the LyX pages, but the LyX
template is not available, unfortunately; there are only LyX templates for
two other World Scientific journals). I have installed the class, and
created a layout file (possibly in a wrong way), and I can import the tex
template for the ws-ijcm article, into LyX. But there are compilation
errors when I create a pdf file. One of the errors arises somewhere in the
example of numbered lists. This is a little problem, as I don't need these.
A second error arises in the place where a figure is inserted. Possibly the
insertion command is not liked by LyX. I may be able to replace it by some
other command. The rest of errors arises in the list of references. The
template tex file uses some strange combination of commands for formatting
or displaying every reference item. LyX incorrectly identifies all of them
as labels. In addition it makes a mess of the items, arranging them in an
apparently wrong order. I have no idea what could be done with these errors.

I can send you the class files, if you agree to have a look at it. You
certainly know more than I do, so that possibly you will see the solution
to the problem in a second.

No, in my case, probably not. I'm not a LaTeX expert, really. But there are people here who are, so I'd suggest you post a link to the class file, your layout file, and the LyX file that is causing the error. Someone will probably be able to figure it out, and I'll have a look when I get time.
(I'm grading final exams at the moment and don't have much.)

Regarding the age of LyX 2.0.2, I have tried to switch to the recent
version, but then my older texts could not be read.

If so, this is a bug, and one we'd like to know about. We saw some issues with conversion of beamer files, but these have been fixed, so far as we know. So please elaborate, and send me
privately one of the files that won't convert, if you can.

In addition, there are many changes in the new LyX, which are left without
explanation, so that I do not know how to use the program now.

There were major changes in how beamer works, to be sure, and I'll admit that it's taken me some time to adjust to the new way of doing things. But These are explained in some detail in the new beamer presentations manual (Help> Specific Manuals> Beamer Presentations,
in 2.1.x).

If there are other changes that are causing difficulties, then again we'd like to know about them.
So please elaborate.

Richard
