I did a quick test with a random photo as the graphic and the word "Test" in 60pt characters for the text. The graphic image was a JPEG file, 1200x900 pixels with a file size of 391kB. Exporting a letter size PDF from Scribus with default settings gave a file size of 1.6MB. However, Scribus, unlike Inkscape, allows customization of compression method. By selecting JPEG compression and minimum quality, I was able to reduce the size of the exported PDF to 238.8kB, a third smaller than the imported image. And the resolution of the image is still 180dpi. Les -- L. R. Denham
