Minimal, solid, modular, adaptable, DIY friendly. Matter of fact, the only software that didn't run on it was LyX. I've solved my immediate problem with a Qemu Ubuntu 14.04 VM that fulfills my books from LyX. Ubuntu 14.04 is supported til 2019, by which time I'll have moved all of my books from LyX to some other format. The only thing is, using a whole VM is slow and resource exhaustive, so a container would be a better solution.
